Armenian Lacrosse Coach Concludes 12-Day Bible Tour With Reading at Holy Etchmiadzin

Armenian Lacrosse co-founder and coach Johnny Mouradian concluded his 12-day Bible reading tour across Armenia on Saturday at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in Vagharshapat.

The final stop brought Mouradian to the spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the seat of the Catholicos of All Armenians.

Mouradian read a passage from Paul’s Letter to the Galatians about humanity’s spiritual state before the coming of Jesus Christ.

“As long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything,” Mouradian read. “But he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father.”

The passage compares a child waiting to receive an inheritance with humanity before Christ.

“In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world,” Mouradian read. “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law.”

Mouradian ended the final video with the invitation he repeated throughout the journey.

“As always, bring a friend to church, bring a family member to church this Sunday and every Sunday,” Mouradian said. “Join the movement.”

Mouradian began the biblical road trip Aug. 11 at the History Museum of Armenia in Yerevan and released a new Bible reading each day.

The journey took him to religious, cultural and historic sites across Armenia, including the Mesrop Mashtots statue outside the Matenadaran, the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex, Geghard Monastery, St. Gregory the Illuminator Church and Akhtala Fortress Monastery.

Mouradian also visited an open-air khachkar workshop in Zovuni, where artisans are helping build the monumental statue of Jesus Christ planned for Mount Hatis.

Friday’s stop brought Mouradian to Akhtala Fortress Monastery in northern Armenia, where he read from the Old Testament Book of Malachi about the messenger sent to prepare the way for the coming of the Lord.

The tour concluded at Holy Etchmiadzin, considered the mother church of the Armenian Apostolic Church and one of the most important spiritual sites for Armenians worldwide.

Mouradian created the 12-day journey to encourage Armenians to return to church and invite their friends and relatives to attend with them each Sunday.
