Armenian Lacrosse co-founder and coach Johnny Mouradian continued his 12-day Bible reading tour across Armenia on Thursday, visiting the Khachkar open-air workshop in Zovuni, outside Yerevan.
The workshop is helping build the monumental statue of Jesus Christ that is planned for Mount Hatis.
Mouradian’s tenth reading came from the first chapter of the Gospel of Luke and recounted the meeting between Mary and her relative Elizabeth.
“At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth,” Mouradian read.
The passage describes Elizabeth’s reaction when she heard Mary’s greeting.
“When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit,” Mouradian read.
Elizabeth then blessed Mary and the child she was carrying.
“In a loud voice she exclaimed, ‘Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb,’” Mouradian read.
The Aug. 20 video followed Mouradian’s visit to St. Gregory the Illuminator Church in Yerevan, where he read the biblical account of the angel Gabriel telling Mary that she would give birth to Jesus, the Son of God.
Mouradian ended Thursday’s reading with the invitation he has repeated throughout the tour.
“As always, bring a friend to church, bring a family member to church this Sunday and every Sunday,” Mouradian said. “Join the movement.”
Mouradian began the biblical road trip Aug. 11 at the History Museum of Armenia in Yerevan and has released a new Bible reading each day.
Earlier stops included the Mesrop Mashtots statue outside the Matenadaran, the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex, Geghard Monastery and St. Gregory the Illuminator Church.
The 12-day journey is scheduled to continue through Aug. 22 before concluding at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in Vagharshapat, the spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the seat of the Catholicos of All Armenians.
Mouradian created the tour to encourage Armenians to attend church and invite their friends and family members to join them each Sunday.
The daily videos are being published across Armenian Lacrosse’s social media platforms and website.
