Armenian Lacrosse co-founder and coach Johnny Mouradian reached the seventh day of his 12-day Bible reading tour across Armenia on Monday, sharing a passage from the Second Letter of Paul to the Corinthians.
The reading came from the sixth chapter of 2 Corinthians and focused on the relationship between God and his people, describing believers as the temple of the living God.
“For you are the temple of the living God, just as God said, ‘I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be my people,’” Mouradian read.
The passage calls on believers to separate themselves from idols and anything considered spiritually unclean. It also presents God’s promise to receive his people as sons and daughters.
“Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord, and do not touch anything unclean, and I will receive you,” Mouradian read.
The scripture concludes with God promising a relationship with believers similar to that of a father and his children.
“And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty,” Mouradian read.
Mouradian ended the Aug. 17 video with the invitation he has repeated throughout his journey.
“As always, bring a friend to church, bring a family member to church this Sunday and every Sunday,” he said. “Join the movement.”
Mouradian began the biblical road trip Aug. 11 at the History Museum of Armenia in Yerevan. His earlier readings included stops beside the Mesrop Mashtots statue outside the Matenadaran and at the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex.
He is visiting historic, cultural and religious locations during the tour, which is scheduled to continue through Aug. 22. Stops include Gyumri, Khor Virap, Oshakan, Vayk, Geghard, Mount Hatis and Akhtala.
The journey is expected to conclude at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in Vagharshapat, the spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the seat of the Catholicos of All Armenians.
Mouradian created the tour to encourage Armenians to attend church and invite their friends and family members to join them each Sunday.
