Armenian Lacrosse Coach Reads Parable of the Sower on Day 4 of Bible Tour

Armenian Lacrosse co-founder and coach Johnny Mouradian continued his 12-day Bible reading tour across Armenia on Friday, sharing the Parable of the Sower from the fourth chapter of the Gospel of Mark.

“Listen. A farmer went out to sow his seed,” Mouradian read.

The parable describes a farmer scattering seeds across different types of ground. Some seeds fall along a path and are eaten by birds, while others land on rocky soil and wither because they cannot develop strong roots.

Other seeds fall among thorns that prevent the plants from producing grain. The seeds that reach good soil grow and produce crops many times greater than what was planted.

“Still other seed fell on good soil,” Mouradian read. “It came up, grew, produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.”

The passage uses the seeds and soil to illustrate how people receive and respond to the word of God.

Mouradian concluded the fourth installment by repeating the invitation at the center of his biblical road trip.

“As always, bring a friend to church, bring a family member to church, this Sunday and every Sunday,” he said.

Mouradian began the tour Aug. 11 at the History Museum of Armenia in Yerevan. He later delivered readings beside the Mesrop Mashtots statue outside the Matenadaran and at the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex.

The Armenian lacrosse coach plans to visit a different historic, cultural or religious location each day through Aug. 22. Scheduled stops include Gyumri, Khor Virap, Oshakan, Vayk, Geghard, Mount Hatis and Akhtala.

The journey is expected to conclude at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in Vagharshapat, the spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Mouradian launched the tour to encourage Armenians to attend church and invite their friends and family members to join them.
