Armenia's young mathematicians delivered an impressive performance at the 30th Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad in Buzău, Romania, bringing home six medals, including one gold.
The prestigious contest brought together 133 students from 23 countries, with each nation represented by a team of up to six competitors under the age of 15.
Armenia's six-member delegation earned one gold, one silver, and four bronze medals.
The gold medal was awarded to Hayk Manukyan, a 10th-grade student at Quantum College. Levon Hayrapetyan, an 8th-grade student at Ayb School, captured the silver medal.
Bronze medals were awarded to Erik Hasratyan, a 9th-grade student at Gazprom Armenia School, as well as Tade Moradyanhajiabadi, Artashes Tumanyan, and Khachatur Vardanyan, students of the A. Shahinyan Specialized Physics and Mathematics School.
The Armenian team was coached by Tigran Chtyan and Edgar Hoghmrcyan, specialists from the Kqarakusi Educational Foundation.
The achievement builds on Armenia's consistent success in international mathematics competitions. At last year's Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad, Armenian student Tigran Hakheyan, then a 9th-grade student at Quantum College, won a silver medal.
The Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad is one of the region's leading mathematics competitions for students under the age of 15, providing a platform for some of the world's most promising young mathematical talents to compete at an international level.
