Armenian Wrestler Janes Nazaryan Wins Gold in Baku, Claims Second U17 World Title

Armenian wrestler Janes Nazarian won the gold medal at the U17 World Wrestling Championships in Baku on Wednesday, securing his second consecutive world title and bringing Armenia's national anthem to Azerbaijan's capital.

Nazarian defeated Russia's Aslan Dzuev 4-3 in a hard-fought Greco-Roman wrestling final, successfully defending his U17 world championship.

The victory carried added symbolism because the tournament is being held in Baku, where Armenia's flag was raised and its national anthem was played during the medal ceremony despite the decades-long conflict between the two neighboring countries.

With the win, Nazarian becomes a two-time U17 world champion, reinforcing Armenia's tradition of producing elite Greco-Roman wrestlers and adding another major international title to the country's growing medal haul.
