Azerbaijani Armed Forces Open Fire on Armenian Positions and Metallurgical Plant
On June 19 Azerbaijani Armed Forces (AF) initiated two separate instances of gunfire. Armenia's Defense Ministry reported that on June 19, between 12:45 a.m. and 2:20 a.m., the Azerbaijani AF units opened fire from various caliber small arms against Armenian combat positions in the eastern Sotk and southwestern Yeraskh directions.
In a subsequent incident on the same day at 1:25 p.m., the Azerbaijani AF units targeted the under-construction metallurgical plant in Yeraskh, which was being built with foreign investment. The attack on the plant adds further strain to the already delicate situation in the region.
Armenia's Defense Ministry swiftly responded to the incidents, condemning the unprovoked attacks on their combat positions and the metallurgical plant. The repeated acts of aggression have raised concerns over regional stability and the potential for further escalation of hostilities.
The metallurgical plant's targeting is particularly alarming, as it represents a significant investment in Armenia's economic development and plays a vital role in the country's industrial capabilities.
No casualties have been repeated on the Armenian side.
