Cyprus Urges Azerbaijan to Immediately Lift Blockade Amid Artsakh Humanitarian Crisis
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus has voiced its growing concern over the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and called for the urgent removal of the ongoing blockade of the Lachin Corridor, according to a statement issued on Twitter.
In the statement, Cyprus strongly condemned the persistent blockade of the Lachin Corridor and expressed deep apprehension about the dire humanitarian situation unfolding in Artsakh. The region has been grappling with a severe shortage of essential supplies, leaving its population vulnerable and underserved.
The Ministry emphasized the critical need for Azerbaijan to promptly lift the blockade, highlighting the importance of ensuring the safety and unhindered movement of people and goods. This urgent call for action aligns with the principles outlined in the 2020 ceasefire statement and the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Cyprus' stance underscores the international community's growing concern about the humanitarian plight in Artsakh, emphasizing the immediate necessity to alleviate the suffering of the affected population. As the crisis persists, diplomatic pressures continue to mount on Azerbaijan to act swiftly and decisively to address the dire circumstances and restore access to essential resources for the people of Artsakh.
