French Foreign Minister Slams Azerbaijani Claims on Armenian Territory, Fake News Originating from Baku

French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné is speaking up regarding Azerbaijani assertions on Armenian territory, denouncing what he referred to as "fake news" originating from Baku.

Addressing concerns at a joint press conference alongside visiting US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Séjourné emphasized France's commitment to upholding the territorial integrity of Armenia, which faces mounting challenges from Azerbaijan.

"We are deeply troubled by the escalating rhetoric emanating from Azerbaijan, coupled with the proliferation of false information propagated from Baku," Séjourné stated. He noted the concerning trend of attempts to shift blame onto Armenia for potential escalations, despite Armenia's evident efforts to defuse tensions in the region.

Séjourné's remarks show a growing international scrutiny of the situation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, with concerns mounting over the potential for further destabilization in the region. As diplomatic efforts intensify to address the ongoing tensions, France's stance signals a resolute commitment to supporting Armenia's territorial sovereignty amidst escalating rhetoric and misinformation.
