One Armenian Among 26 Killed in Overnight U.S.-Israeli Attack on Iran’s Isfahan

One member of the Armenian community was among those killed during overnight attacks on residential areas in the Iranian city of Isfahan, according to local officials, as the wider war between the United States, Israel, and Iran continues to escalate.

Akbar Salehi, the Deputy for Security and Law Enforcement Affairs of the Isfahan Governor’s Office, provided details about the casualties, saying that a total of 26 people were killed in the incident. The attacks targeted several neighborhoods across the city and caused both deaths and injuries.

“So far, 26 people have been martyred in this incident,” Salehi said, while presenting the official figures.

Among the victims, Salehi confirmed that one person from the Armenian and Christian community of Isfahan was killed in the Baharestan area. The identity of the victim has not yet been publicly released.

According to the official breakdown, four of those killed in the Khaneh Isfahan area were children. The highest number of casualties was reported in the Haftoon district, where 21 people were killed.

In another area, known as 25 Aban, there were no reported deaths, but several people were injured. Authorities also confirmed that a number of other residents across Isfahan were wounded in the attacks.

The incident comes during a wider and rapidly developing war in the region. The war began on February 28, 2026, when the United States and Israel launched large-scale airstrikes across Iran, targeting military infrastructure, nuclear facilities, and senior leadership.

The initial strikes killed several top Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and was one of the most serious escalations in the region in decades.

In response, Iran launched missile and drone attacks against Israel, U.S. military bases, and allied countries across the Middle East. The fighting quickly spread beyond a single front, affecting multiple countries and key infrastructure, including energy routes and civilian areas.

Since then, the war has continued with repeated waves of strikes on both sides. Israeli and U.S. forces have carried out ongoing attacks inside Iran, while Iran has retaliated with missile strikes and regional operations.

The war has also had a heavy impact on civilians. Reports indicate that hundreds, and possibly more than a thousand, civilians have been killed since the start of the fighting, with residential areas, hospitals, and other civilian locations affected.

The strike on Isfahan, which killed 26 people including one Armenian, is part of this broader pattern of attacks on populated areas. As the war continues, concerns are growing over the safety of civilians, including minority communities such as Armenians who have lived in Iran for generations.
