Why Tourists Are Choosing To Spend Holidays 2025 in Yerevan, Armenia

As Yerevan enters the holiday season, Republic Square continues to attract large crowds of both locals and visitors. In recent days, the square has become a meeting point for tourists from different parts of the world who have chosen Armenia as their holiday destination.

The Armenian Report visited Republic Square to speak directly with visitors and understand why they decided to celebrate the New Year in Armenia. Tourists from the Philippines, Iran, Syria, India, Yemen, and other countries shared their impressions and explained what makes Armenia special for them.

Many visitors said this was their first time experiencing such a large public Christmas and New Year celebration. For some, Armenia offered something completely different from celebrations in their home countries.

“This is the first time that I am celebrating Christmas and New Year. I chose Armenia because it is very famous on Instagram. I saw it on Instagram and it looked very fantastic. Sadly, we don’t have such a huge celebration. They are indifferent to religion, and we don’t have this kind of celebration. We usually just visit our families, and we don’t have this magic.”

Social media played an important role in attracting tourists to Armenia. Several visitors said they had seen Armenia many times online before deciding to travel.

Others said they had heard positive things about Armenia as a New Year destination and wanted to experience the atmosphere in person.

“I heard that Armenia is a really nice place to celebrate the New Year, so we decided to visit during the New Year. It is a nice celebration here.”

For many tourists, the scale of the celebrations came as a surprise. Visitors described the public events, decorations, and overall atmosphere as something they had never experienced before.

“This is the first time that I have ever seen this kind of show. It is very nice. We don’t have anything like this in our country. It is very good and very beautiful. I enjoy it so much.”

Tourists from India also compared the celebrations in Armenia with those in their home country, noting clear differences.

“In India it is good, but it is not as good as in Armenia. The celebration, the countdown, the fireworks, and everything—especially the Christmas tree. I have not seen such a big Christmas tree and celebration in India.”

According to visitors, Armenia offers a festive and welcoming environment where people from different cultures can come together and feel part of a shared celebration. Republic Square, in particular, has become a symbol of this experience, bringing together music, lights, and a strong sense of holiday spirit.
