Yerevan’s Republic Square Turns Into Dance Floor for International Dance Day

Yerevan celebrated International Dance Day with a large public event that brought thousands of dancers to the center of the city. Republic Square was turned into a big open dance floor, where around 4,000 people gathered to take part in a celebration of Armenian culture.


The event was called “Festive Round Dance with 7 Circles.” It brought together dancers from across the country. Participants included the Vanush Khanamiryan Union of Dance Artists of Armenia, along with many dance groups and students from higher and secondary educational institutions. The large number of dancers created a strong and unified performance that filled the square.

The traditional Armenian circle dance where people stand in circles and move together in rhythm. It is an important part of the country’s cultural life and has been passed down through generations. By dancing together in this way, participants show unity and keep their traditions alive.


On the occasion of the day, Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, sent a congratulatory message. In her message, she said:

“According to the good tradition formed in our country, every year on April 29, Yerevan lives and breathes with dance. This year as well, on International Dance Day, at the initiative of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, our beloved capital Yerevan will turn into a large dance platform, offering a festive dance celebration to the residents of Yerevan and the city’s guests.”

The event once again turned Republic Square into a place full of music, movement, and people. It showed how dance continues to play an important role in Armenia, bringing people together and celebrating the country’s cultural identity.
