The Armenian national basketball team clinched a victory over Ireland to claim the championship title at the International Tournament held in Los Angeles. The final match, filled with tension and excitement, ended with a narrow score of 92-91 in favor of the Armenian team.


The game's outcome was decided in the last seconds, adding to the intensity of the match. With just 13 seconds left on the clock and Armenia leading by one point, a sudden turnover gave Ireland a chance to snatch victory. However, the Armenian team's solid defense prevented their opponents from scoring, securing their triumph.



The standout player of the match was the Armenian team's captain, Andre Spight-Mkrtchyan, who delivered an exceptional performance. Spight-Mkrtchyan recorded a double-double, scoring 26 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and making 5 assists. His leadership and skill were instrumental in guiding Armenia to victory.


Contributing significantly to the team's success was Connor Essegian, who scored 20 points and made 6 assists. His crucial three-point play in the final minutes proved to be decisive in securing the win for Armenia.

Earlier, on June 21, the Armenian national basketball team displayed their skill in a friendly match against Guatemala, winning with a commanding score of 89-57. Once again, Andre Spight-Mkrtchyan emerged as the standout player, showcasing his talent with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.


The Armenian national basketball team's triumphs in both matches over the weekend were under the guidance of Coach Rex Kalamian. Kalamian, who serves as the head coach of the Armenia men's national basketball team and as an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks, played a pivotal role in the team's success. His strategic leadership and coaching expertise were evident in the team's impressive performances, solidifying Armenia's position as a rising force in international basketball.


The team's young talents also made their mark on the court. Seventeen-year-old players Anto Balian and Avand Dorian showcased their skills, with Balian scoring 17 points and Dorian contributing 13 points to the team's victory. Their performance shows the promising future of Armenian basketball.
