Armenia’s weightlifting team continues its remarkable success at the European Youth and U23 Championships taking place in Albania, earning the country its sixth gold medal of the tournament.
In the men’s 110 kg weight category, Garik Karapetyan delivered an outstanding performance. During the snatch event, he lifted 175 kg and 182 kg, securing the gold medal. In the clean and jerk discipline, he successfully raised 210 kg and 215 kg, finishing second. With a total of 397 kg, Karapetyan was crowned European U23 champion.
His accomplishment show the hard work of Armenia’s national coaching team — head coach Pashik Alaverdyan, assistant coach Hakob Pilosyan, and personal coach Aleksan Karapetyan — who have been key figures in preparing the athletes for the competition.

Another strong result came from Petros Petrosyan, who also represented Armenia in the 110 kg category. Although he faced difficulties in the snatch event, Petrosyan excelled in the clean and jerk, successfully lifting 210 kg and 221 kg to win a gold medal in that event. His training was guided by Pashik Alaverdyan, Hakob Pilosyan, and personal coach David Muradyan.
