Armenia’s Emma Poghosyan Becomes European Youth Champion with New Record

Armenia won its fourth gold medal at the European Youth and Under-23 Weightlifting Championships held in Durrës, Albania.

In the youth 86 kg weight category, Armenian team member Emma Poghosyan competed strongly. In the snatch event, she completed three successful lifts, raising the weights consecutively to 100 kg, 103 kg, and 105 kg. She finished third in this part of the competition.


In the clean and jerk event, Poghosyan lifted 131 kg and 136 kg, setting a new European record. Her performance in this event placed her first.


With a total of 241 kg across both events, Emma Poghosyan became the European Youth Champion.


The Armenian team was guided by Head Coach Artashes Nersisyan, Assistant Coach Taron Tovmasyan, and Personal Coach Kristine Petrosyan.
