Armenia Wins 7 Gold Medals at the European Weightlifting Championships

The European Junior and Under-23 Weightlifting Championships held in Durrës, Albania, have come to an end with remarkable success for the Armenian team. Armenia’s athletes once again showed their strength and dedication, winning a total of seven gold medals across different categories.

In the men’s over 109 kg division of the Under-23 competition, Armenia was represented by Ashot Movsisyan. He gave an outstanding performance throughout the event. In the snatch exercise, Movsisyan successfully lifted 160 kg, then 165 kg, and finally 168 kg, earning a bronze medal in that category.

However, Movsisyan’s biggest achievement came in the clean and jerk exercise, where he lifted 210 kg and then 216 kg, securing the top position. With a total of 384 kg in both lifts combined, he became the gold medal winner of the European Under-23 Championships.

The Armenian team was guided by head coach Pashik Alaverdyan and assistant coach Hakob Pilosyan. Movsisyan’s personal coach is Vigen Khachatryan, who has played a key role in his preparation and success.
