Armenia Wins First Gold Medals at European Shooting Championship in Yerevan

Armenia has won its first gold medals at the European Shooting Championship taking place in Yerevan.

The competition in the 10m moving target event brought together top shooters from across Europe and ended with strong performances by Armenian athletes in several categories.

In the women’s 10m moving target normal run final, two Armenian representatives competed against each other — Lilit Mkrtchyan and Gohar Harutyunyan. Mkrtchyan became European champion for the fourth time, defeating Harutyunyan 8–6 in the final. In this event, third place went to Ukraine’s Margarita Karkany.

The final was especially significant for Armenia, as it guaranteed the country both the gold and silver medals in the women’s event. The close 8–6 score showed a competitive match between the two Armenian athletes, who demonstrated strong focus and skill throughout the contest.

In the men’s competition, the gold medal was won by Sweden’s Jesper Nyberg. Poland’s Lukasz Czapla earned the silver medal, while Finland’s Juhani Vuorimaa took the bronze. Armenian shooters did not reach the podium in this category, but the event highlighted the high level of competition at the championship.

Young athletes also competed in the junior events. In the junior boys’ event, Finland’s Erik Vilkman won gold, Ukraine’s Dmytro Kravets took silver, and Roman Berezitsky claimed bronze.

Armenia again stood out in the junior girls’ competition. The country secured both gold and silver medals through Lilit Mkrtchyan and Anahit Sargsyan. Third place went to Alina Ktalkan.
