The Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs confirmed in an exclusive interview with The Armenian Report that it is maintaining constant contact with Armenian communities in both Iran and Israel.
"We are in regular communication with the Armenian community in both countries," said a representative from the Office, speaking to The Armenian Report on June 17.
While both communities are in stable condition, their circumstances differ significantly based on the infrastructure and security arrangements in each country.
In Israel, the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs noted, “Our compatriots are mainly in special shelters. Facilities have been created for them for special military situations.” These shelters are being used as a precautionary measure in the wake of ongoing security concerns and the threat of aerial attacks from recent escalations involving Israel and multiple regional actors.
The circumstances are different for Armenians living in Iran. “In Iran, people are mainly in their homes because there are no shelters as such there,” the Diaspora Office representative explained.
While both communities are feeling a sense of anxiety and concern, it was stated that there is no mandate that has been issued to relocate to Armenia. Nonetheless, some Iranian-Armenian families have taken precautionary steps. “One family has already crossed the border and is here,” said the representative.
As regional tensions continue, Armenia is staying in close contact with its diaspora to monitor the situation.
