Double Victory for Armenia at Kazakhstan Chess Cup 2025

Armenian chess players achieved major victories at the “Kazakhstan Chess Cup 2025,” a regional tournament held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Both the men’s and women’s tournaments ended with Armenian champions after strong performances.


The announcement said: “Grandmaster Aram Hakobyan and Women’s International Master Mariam Mkrtchyan became the winners of the ‘Kazakhstan Chess Cup 2025’ regional chess tournament held in the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan.”


In the men’s tournament, Aram Hakobyan scored 7.5 points out of a possible 11 and became the sole winner. The statement said: “In the men’s event, Aram earned 7.5 points out of 11 possible and became the sole champion of the tournament.”

In the women’s tournament, Mariam Mkrtchyan also earned 7.5 points. She shared the 1st to 3rd places but took first place based on additional tiebreaks. The announcement explained: “In the women’s event, Mariam also earned 7.5 points and shared the 1st–3rd places, taking the 1st place based on additional indicators.”


The announcement ended with congratulations: “We congratulate our chess players and wish them new victories.”
