Armenian shooter Elmira Karapetyan won a silver medal at the European Championship currently being held in Yerevan — competing while seven months pregnant.
With her baby bump visible beneath her competition gear, Karapetyan stepped onto the range and delivered a performance that inspired the home crowd. The championship has brought together top shooters from across Europe, with athletes competing in various individual and team events.
Karapetyan competed in the women’s 10m air pistol solo event, one of the most technical and demanding disciplines in sport shooting. Despite being seven months pregnant, she showed remarkable focus, calm breathing, and steady control throughout qualification. Her consistent shots earned her a place in the final round.
Competing at home made the moment even more powerful. Armenian fans packed the venue in Yerevan, cheering as she advanced — not just as a national athlete, but as a mother-to-be representing resilience and strength.
In the final, Karapetyan faced Hungary’s Olympic bronze medalist Veronika Major. The match was intense and closely contested, with both athletes demonstrating elite precision under pressure. Karapetyan ultimately fell 12–15, securing the silver medal.
This is the second consecutive year she has claimed silver at the European Championship. Her performance in Yerevan — pregnant and on the podium — further solidifies her place among Armenia’s leading shooters and sends a powerful message about determination, motherhood, and excellence in sport.
