Armenia’s Sofia Baghramyan captured the silver medal in the girls under-10 rapid competition at the European Youth Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship.
The championship was held in Rzeszów, Poland, where Baghramyan finished with 7.5 points from nine rounds. Her performance also earned her a 189-point increase in her rapid chess rating.

The result came after Baghramyan had already claimed a bronze medal earlier in the tournament, giving the young Armenian two podium finishes at the European championship.
Baghramyan has built an impressive record despite her age. Earlier this year, she won the European girls under-8 blitz title at the European Youth Chess Championship in Prague.
She is also a world champion in chess problem solving, having previously won the gold medal at the World Chess Solving Championship.
With another medal on the European stage, Baghramyan continues to strengthen Armenia’s reputation for producing world-class young chess talent.
