Armenian Foreign Minister to Attend Third 3+3 Regional Meeting in Istanbul

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan will participate in the third meeting of foreign ministers in the 3+3 regional format, set to take place in Istanbul on Friday, October 18. The confirmation came from Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with spokesperson Ani Badalyan telling The Armenian Report, "Yes, I confirm that Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan will participate in the third meeting of the '3+3' regional consultation platform in Turkey on October 18."

The meeting will gather foreign ministers from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, and Iran as part of continued regional consultations. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who announced the event at a press conference in Ankara, emphasized Turkey's commitment to resolving regional issues through direct dialogue among the countries involved.

"Turkey supports the position that all regional issues should be resolved directly by the countries of the region," Fidan said. "We continue consultations with the countries of the South Caucasus through the regional cooperation platform."

The 3+3 format, which aims to build dialogue and stability in the South Caucasus, includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran, and Turkey, while Georgia has yet to participate. The platform was created in the aftermath of the 2020 Artsakh War (also known as Nagorno-Karabakh) to address regional security and cooperation challenges.
