Gor Sahakyan Takes Silver for Armenia at European Weightlifting Championships in Batumi

Armenia has secured another medal at the European Weightlifting Championships currently taking place in Batumi, Georgia, as national team member Gor Sahakyan delivered a strong performance in the 71 kg men’s category.


Sahakyan, a two-time European champion, competed among the top athletes in his weight class and showed consistency across both lifts. In the snatch event, he successfully lifted 146 kg and then improved his result with a 150 kg lift. His performance in this discipline placed him in first position among competitors.

In the clean and jerk, Sahakyan lifted 180 kg. This result placed him third in that segment of the competition. Combined with his snatch performance, his total reached 330 kg.


With this total, Gor Sahakyan finished in second place overall, earning the silver medal at the European Championships. His result adds another achievement to Armenia’s performance at the tournament and continues his record as one of the country’s leading weightlifters.
